What can we do about it?

The journey of change starts with the simplest step and the aim is is to nurture the connected thinking of your child or children as a supplement to their normal academic curriculum. Think of it as a vitamin supplement for their minds which works hand in hand with their normal educational diet.

Research shows, creative people and innovators have the power to connect things which are seemingly unconnected and creativity is indeed, the power to connect the seemingly unconnected. However, we've been taught to visualize inventions and breakthroughs as dramatic creative leaps, made by special people with unique talents. But when you explore the real history, the reality is more often a story of many steps made by a variety of determined ordinary people using connected thinking.

Connected thinking means combining an understanding of a problem in one field with an awareness and openness to ideas in different fields. Research shows that many breakthrough ideas feature these kind of steps.

So the first question is: Do you want your children to be creative? If yes, as parents, what can we do to nurture the connected thinking of our children and boost their creative confidence?

Well, this may sound silly, but we believe the revolution may start at home, when we are in fact, brushing our teeth. Use this daily habit of brushing one's teeth as an anchor habit to attach a new habit of playing a simple game of connecting things together.

And as we play the game with our children, it does not only help them, but it helps us, grown ups, to rekindle our creative confidence too.
